Gabon football federation appoints Sébastien Migné as national team coach

The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) officially announced that French coach Sébastien Migné will take over as head of the national team, the "Panthères." Migné, 54, leaves his recent post with Haiti after securing a release letter and brings experience from previous African assignments and a stint alongside Claude Le Roy and Rigobert Song. He will receive a salary of 40 million FCFA per month (about 480 million FCFA annually) and is in the process of assembling his technical staff.

On 15 July 2026, FEGAFOOT President Pierre Alain Mounguengui held a press conference in Owendo, confirming Migné’s appointment. The president addressed a sizable group of journalists, highlighted the federation’s openness, and praised the players’ recent performances at the U‑15 championship. He emphasized respect for the national squad and the collaborative effort required to rejuvenate Gabon's football prospects.
