Gabon launches Task Foot to reform national football
Gabon has initiated a comprehensive reform process for its national football sector, known as Task Foot. Launched by the Minister of Youth, Sports, Cultural Radiance and Arts, Paul Ulrich Kessany Zategwa, the initiative aims to create a strategic roadmap to overhaul governance, national competitions, and the sport's economic model.
The five-day workshop, held at the Sino-Gabonese Friendship Stadium in Angondjé, is presided over by Léon Ababé, the former president of FEGAFOOT. The task force brings together a wide range of stakeholders, including FEGAFOOT, the National Football League (LINAFP), the national women's football league, the National Olympic Committee, club presidents, coaches, referees, and players.
The reform efforts are organized into seven specialized workshops covering governance, human development and training, national competitions, communication and marketing, financing, refereeing and integrity, and sports infrastructure. The goal is to produce legally applicable and financially sustainable recommendations that align with high-level international football standards.
