Gabriel Attal repurposes Macron support accounts for his presidential campaign

Renaissance party leader Gabriel Attal announced his candidacy for the 2027 French presidential election and, to expand his online reach, his team took control of social‑media accounts that had been used to support Emmanuel Macron in the 2022 election. The accounts on Instagram and X were renamed, had their logos changed and all previous posts removed. The rebranded “Attal président” accounts now list about 50,000 followers on X and 35,000 on Meta. Several users discovered they were now subscribed to the modified accounts and expressed irritation, asking “what are these methods?”. The Élysée confirmed it had not been informed of the maneuver. Attal, a former prime minister, released a book titled En homme libre as his campaign intensifies.
