Gabriella Boggiani named as new suspect in Emanuela Orlandi case

A new person, Gabriella Boggiani, has been placed under investigation by the Rome Prosecutor's Office regarding the 1983 disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi, a 15-year-old Vatican citizen. Boggiani learned of her status during a hearing before a parliamentary commission investigating the cases of Orlandi and Mirella Gregori.

The investigation focuses on a phone call made from a public booth in 1983. Boggiani testified that Marco Fassoni Accetti, an acquaintance at the time, requested she make the call as a prank. According to her statement, Accetti instructed her to say, “we know where Emanuela Orlandi is.” Boggiani stated she did not understand the gravity of the words at the time and has since distanced herself from Accetti.

Boggiani joins Marco Fassoni Accetti and Laura Casagrande as individuals under investigation in this reopened case. Meanwhile, Carabinieri investigators are awaiting results from new genetic testing conducted on a flute previously provided by Accetti during his self-accusations.
