Mayor Pedro Miguel Rosaldo reopens Coatzacoalcos' Avenue One Bridge
Mayor Pedro Miguel Rosaldo García officially reopened the "Ramón Figuerola Ruiz" structure, known locally as the Avenue One Bridge, in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz after 22 years without a comprehensive overhaul. The project replaced damaged concrete slabs, repaired expansion joints, improved curves and embankment ramps, repainted the deck, upgraded lighting and installed reflective lane markings. Additional safety measures include the placement of one thousand metal curbs and new public‑lighting fixtures that enhance visibility for drivers and pedestrians.
The municipal administration estimates that the rehabilitation will directly benefit 16,556 residents and improve mobility for thousands of daily commuters. Director of Works Orlando Solís pledged ongoing maintenance to prevent a repeat of the prolonged neglect that left the bridge in disrepair.
The work is part of the 2026 General Investment Program and underscores the city’s commitment to urban infrastructure, road safety and better quality of life for the people of Coatzacoalcos.
