GAC AION launches electric SUV and hatchback in Romania and Croatia

Chinese state‑controlled automaker GAC AION is expanding its presence in Southeast Europe with locally assembled electric vehicles. In Romania, the company highlighted its long‑term strategy of assembling cars at Magna Steyr’s plant in Graz, Austria, and offering models tailored to the market. In Croatia, sales are set to begin in September, overseen by the regional distributor SEEAG.

The rollout includes two fully electric models: the AION V SUV, equipped with a 75 kWh battery delivering up to 510 km WLTP range and a five‑star Euro NCAP rating, and the smaller AION UT hatchback, featuring a 440‑litre boot (up to 1 600 litre with seats folded) and standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Production of the AION V will start at the end of 2025, while the AION UT has been assembled in Austria since March. Pricing, warranty terms and exact specifications for the Croatian market remain undisclosed.
