GAC AION international and domestic EV expansion

Overview

Chinese automaker GAC AION continues its international expansion through various electric vehicle rollouts. Following the preparation of the Aion Ray 7, the company has launched the 2027 i60 SUV, which offers both pure electric and range-extended powertrain options. The pure electric i60 models utilize CATL batteries with ranges up to 700 km, while the range-extended version uses a Huawei DriveONE system to provide a combined range of up to 1,738 km. The i60 features 27 perception sensors, including a 192-line LiDAR, and employs software derived from WeRide’s L4 autonomous driving technology. The 2027 i60 reportedly secured over 5,000 orders within three hours of its release.
