GAC Aion UT earns five-star Euro NCAP safety rating
The GAC Aion UT compact electric hatchback has earned a five-star safety rating from the 2026 Euro NCAP assessment programme. The vehicle demonstrated high performance in several key categories under the updated testing criteria.
In crash protection, the EV achieved a score of 91%, providing robust defense for adult and child occupants. It earned full points in side pole impact tests due to a center airbag and maximum points for child passenger safety. The vehicle also scored 88% in post-crash safety, aided by features such as electric side windows that remain operational for over two minutes after water submergence.
The Aion UT received a 74% score in crash avoidance, with its standard suite of advanced driver-assist features performing well in detecting cyclists and preventing dooring incidents. However, it received a 66% score in safe driving, with testers noting a heavy reliance on touchscreen controls rather than physical switches and a 68% accuracy rate for speed limit recognition.
