GAC Aion V owners complete inter-island EV road trips in the Philippines
Two owners of the GAC Aion V electric SUV recently completed long-distance, inter-island road trips across the Philippines, covering the major island groups of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The journeys were intended to test the vehicle's real-world capabilities and address concerns regarding electric vehicle (EV) range anxiety and the availability of charging infrastructure in provincial regions.
One driver completed a 1,492km trip, utilizing power-saving techniques such as single-pedal driving and maintaining steady speeds between 80-100kph to achieve an average efficiency of approximately 7.2km/kWh. To manage the limited public charging infrastructure in areas like Samar and Leyte, the driver utilized daytime driving and recharged the vehicle while resting at commercial locations.
The GAC Aion V features Magazine Battery 2.0 technology, which provides a declared range of up to 600km and supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in about 20 minutes. In the Philippine market, the vehicle is available in Premium and Ultra variants, with introductory pricing ranging from approximately PHP 1,418,000 to PHP 1,598,000.
