Gadi Ayalon intends to form a broad Israeli government

Gadi Ayalon, leader of the Yesh Atid party, has announced his intention to immediately work toward forming a new Israeli government with the broadest possible political consensus. Following the recent elections, Ayalon stated that the results show a majority of Israelis voted against the government associated with the October 7 events and military service exemptions.

Ayalon outlined four core principles for any potential coalition partner: recognition of Israel as a Jewish, democratic, liberal, and egalitarian state; commitment to the values of the Declaration of Independence; the imposition of military, national, or civil service on all citizens; and the recognition of Hamas as a terrorist organization with a commitment to eliminating its military and governing capabilities in Gaza.

His proposed agenda includes establishing an official commission of inquiry into the failures of October 7, 2023, increasing the number of military recruits, and repealing judicial reform laws. Ayalon noted that while his camp secured 48 seats compared to 53 for the Netanyahu camp, he will seek to expand partnerships to achieve a parliamentary majority and avoid new elections.
