Gadis and Mercadona announce new supermarket expansions
Retail chains Gadis and Mercadona are advancing their expansion plans in Spain and Portugal, respectively.
Gadis is set to open a new 1,400-square-meter supermarket in Navatejera, Villaquilambre, on September 24. This project, which follows a previous opening in Trobajo del Camino, brings the company's total to eleven locations in the province of León. The new facility is expected to create approximately 40 jobs.
In Portugal, Mercadona has announced plans to open a new store in Alfragide, Amadora, scheduled for February 2027. The company has already begun recruiting staff for various roles, including supermarket operators. Recruitment includes full-time, 20-hour, and 15-hour weekly contracts, with the company offering permanent employment from the first day.
