Gaeta hosts 420 youth sailors at Coppa Primavela 2026

From 2 to 4 July 2026 the Gulf of Gaeta became the venue for the 41st Coppa Primavela Kinder Joy of Moving, Italy’s premier youth sailing competition. The event gathered about 420 athletes aged 9‑17 from across the country to race in four classes – Optimist, O’Pen Skiff, ILCA 4 and Techno 293.

The regatta was organised by the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) together with the Yacht Club Gaeta and supported by regional and municipal authorities, including President Francesco Ettorre, Yacht Club president Vincenzo Addessi, Mayor Cristian Leccese and other officials. The opening ceremony featured a parade of the fifteen regional FIV zones along the seafront, oaths of sportsmanship, and the raising of the national flag. Sustainability was highlighted through a partnership with One Ocean Foundation and activities such as a “Missione Mare Pulito” clean‑up.

Alongside the races, the FIVillage offered family‑friendly programs – dance shows, yoga for children, a pasta party and educational panels – underscoring the event’s role in promoting both sport and environmental awareness among Italy’s next generation of sailors.
