Gaeta hosts final of the Coppa Primavela youth sailing regatta
The Yacht Club Gaeta concluded the 2026 Coppa Primavela Kinder Joy of Moving, a key event of the Federazione Italiana Vela (FIV) for sailors aged 9‑16. Over three days 421 participants from across Italy competed in the Optimist, ILCA 4, O’pen Skiff (U13 and U17) and Techno 293 windsurf classes, racing in winds that rose from 8‑10 knots to gusts of 16‑18 knots on the final day. The championship featured 30 Optimist boats split into three age groups, six ILCA 4 races, seven O’pen Skiff U13 races, eight O’pen Skiff U17 races and eight Techno 293 races. The closing ceremony on the FIVillage stage awarded the Challenge Cup to the overall Optimist winner (born 2017) and the Techno 293 CH3 winner (born 2016), alongside class podiums for both genders. Additional trophies were presented for the Coppa Cadetti, the Coppa del Presidente and the Coppa del Presidente in each class. Forty‑eight sailors earned medals across sixteen podiums. The event was opened by FIV president Francesco Ettorre, Yacht Club Gaeta president Vincenzo Addessi, and youth development director Alessandra Sensini. The regatta highlighted Gaeta’s favorable sailing conditions and reinforced its reputation as a premier venue for Italian youth sailing competitions.
