Gaeta youth sailing regatta resumes after opening day cancellation

The opening day of the 41st Coppa Primavela Kinder Joy of moving 2026 in Gaeta was called off because rain and erratic winds made racing impossible for the 421 young sailors from across Italy. Organisers postponed the races to the following day, July 3, and used the afternoon for a pasta party, games and a dance show at the FIVillage.

On July 3, clear skies and strengthening thermal winds allowed the Optimist, ILCA 4, O’pen Skiff and Techno 293 classes to complete their scheduled races. All classes ran multiple rounds, and podiums were recorded, with Pietro Marziano leading the Optimist Primavela fleet and Ludovico Aden Porretti topping the Techno 293 CH3 standings, among other class winners.

The event also featured shore‑side activities, including a “Missione Mare Pulito” sustainability panel with representatives from ARPA Lazio, Marevivo and local schools, and a dive team that began cleaning the seabed on July 3. The FIVillage continued to host games, a pasta party and the “La Merenda dei Campioni” celebration.
