GAHAR accredits 29 healthcare facilities and gains international radiology standard recognition

The General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) has announced the accreditation and renewal of 29 healthcare facilities across 12 Egyptian governorates. These facilities span the government, university, and private sectors, including institutions under the Ministry of Health and Population and the General Authority for Teaching Hospitals and Institutes.

Key decisions include granting preliminary accreditation to the Abu El Reesh Japanese Specialized Children's Hospital, part of Cairo University, and full accreditation to the National Nutrition Institute. Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of GAHAR, stated that these approvals reflect the expansion of quality standards to include major specialized national and university institutions.

Additionally, GAHAR's 2026 edition of accreditation standards for diagnostic and therapeutic radiology centers has received international accreditation from the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation (ISQua EEA). The standards achieved a 100% international compliance rate following an independent assessment by international experts. The new radiology standards focus on the entire patient journey, emphasizing safe technology use, radiation protection, and clinical decision-making accuracy.
