Egypt healthcare accreditation expansion

The General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) has continued its expansion of healthcare quality and patient safety standards across Egypt.

Initially, GAHAR approved the accreditation and renewal of 32 healthcare facilities spanning 12 governorates, including North Sinai, Alexandria, Cairo, and Aswan. These facilities included providers from the private sector, university hospitals, and the Ministry of Health and Population. Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of GAHAR, noted that accreditation serves as a continuous cycle of performance improvement to enhance citizen trust.

Following this, GAHAR announced the accreditation of 29 additional facilities across 12 governorates, including preliminary accreditation for the Abu El Reesh Japanese Specialized Children's Hospital and full accreditation for the National Nutrition Institute. Furthermore, GAHAR’s 2026 accreditation standards for diagnostic and therapeutic radiology centers achieved international recognition from the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation (ISQua EEA), reaching a 100% international compliance rate.
