Galați, Romania – Toddler dies after being run over by father's car

A 1‑year‑2‑month‑old child was killed in a traffic accident in the village of Ionăşeşti, Nicoreşti commune, Galaţi County, Romania, on 25 July 2026 at about 14:00. The child's 32‑year‑old father drove a parked car forward, turned left and struck the toddler who had emerged from the courtyard. Emergency services performed resuscitation for over an hour, but the child was declared dead at the scene.

Police investigations confirmed the driver tested negative for alcohol. A criminal case for negligent homicide has been opened, and inquiries continue to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
