Spanish unions secure new collective agreements for healthcare, public and transport employees

In Galicia, the USO and UGT unions succeeded in establishing a formal negotiating table for security guards working in the regional health service (Sergas). The table, set to meet on 24 July, will involve contracting firms and union representatives to discuss wage, safety and working‑condition improvements for the hospital security staff.

In Castilla‑La Mancha, the regional government approved the IX collective agreement that will affect more than 7 500 public‑administration workers. The accord, backed unanimously by CCOO, CSIF, STAS‑CLM and UGT, introduces a new system for managing job‑vacancy pools, greater flexibility for internal mobility, a “conciliación” hour bank and a specific supplement for afternoon shifts, among other labour‑rights enhancements.

The same autonomous community also saw the UGT federation allege that employers are blocking progress on a separate logistics sector collective pact that would cover roughly 45 000 workers. The union demands a salary increase tied to inflation, a sixth‑percent raise and a fourth extra payment, as well as a reduction of the standard 1 800‑hour annual work schedule.

A new collective agreement for the sanitary transport sector, negotiated by CCOO, CIG, USO and UGT, will benefit over 2 000 workers. It includes a cumulative 21 % wage increase over five years, a fourth extraordinary payment, a reduction of the annual work‑time by 60 hours and expanded health‑and‑safety provisions.

In the Basque Country, the public‑sector unions ELA and LAB presented proposals at the General Council for a shorter work week—32 hours for ELA and 30 hours for LAB—alongside calls for salary rises and measures to curb temporary contracts.
