Alfonso Rueda announces PPdeG congress and Xacobeo 2027 campaign

Alfonso Rueda, President of the Xunta de Galicia and leader of the PPdeG, has announced the 19th Ordinary Congress of the People's Party of Galicia, scheduled for November 21 and 22. This marks the first ordinary congress under his leadership since succeeding Alberto Núñez Feijóo in 2022. Rueda is expected to seek re-election as party leader, a position that serves as the candidacy for the presidency of the Xunta. The congress arrives ahead of an intense electoral cycle, including municipal and general elections.

Simultaneously, the regional government has launched the promotional campaign for Xacobeo 2027. Presented in Madrid under the slogan ‘Galicia Calidade, en el mejor momento’, the campaign aims to position the upcoming Holy Year as a major international tourism event. Rueda highlighted the growing popularity of the Camino de Santiago, noting that current estimates suggest up to 730,000 pilgrims may visit the region during the period. The initiative seeks to leverage the spiritual, cultural, and natural heritage of Galicia to attract visitors from across Spain and the world.
