While previous reports noted a 7% increase in pilgrimage numbers, Rueda highlighted growing popularity with new estimates suggesting up to 730,000 pilgrims may visit the region during the period. This campaign aims to position the upcoming Holy Year as a major international tourism event by leveraging Galicia’s spiritual, cultural, and natural heritage.

As the Holy Year cycle approaches, the region is also integrating cultural events into its tourism strategy, such as the 9th edition of the Underfest Xacobeo music festival in Vigo, scheduled for November 2026.
