Galicia offers housing subsidies for youth in rural areas

The Galician Housing and Land Institute (IGVS) has announced a new subsidy program aimed at encouraging young people to settle in rural areas of Galicia. The initiative provides up to 15,000 euros for individuals under the age of 36 to purchase or self-build a primary residence in municipalities with populations of 10,000 inhabitants or fewer.

The program is funded by an initial 2 million euros from the State Housing Plan 2026-2030. The subsidies cover 20% of the purchase or construction cost, capped at 15,000 euros per home. Notably, the aid is distributed via non-competitive concurrence, meaning applications will be processed in the order they are received until the budget is exhausted. The application period begins on August 27 and is scheduled to run until November 16, though it may close earlier if funds are depleted.
