In late July 2026, the Xunta de Galicia announced a childcare wage‑subsidy scheme for fathers who cut back their working hours to care for young children. The programme offers €1,700‑€3,700 per family, is competitively allocated, and is co‑financed by European funds, with a total budget of about €619 k.

A week later, in early August 2026, the same regional government launched a tuition‑aid programme for unemployed university graduates. The scholarship covers €591‑€836 per student for a master’s degree, is awarded competitively until a €75 k budget is spent, and targets job‑seekers registered on the application day. To be eligible, applicants must have completed a degree by 30 September 2025 and enroll in an official master’s programme of at least 60 credits at a Galician university for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Applications are accepted online from 6 August to 6 October 2026.

In mid-August 2026, the Galician Housing and Land Institute (IGVS) announced a new subsidy program to encourage young people to settle in rural areas. Funded by an initial €2 million from the State Housing Plan 2026-2030, the initiative provides up to €15,000 for individuals under age 36 to purchase or self-build a primary residence in municipalities with populations of 10,000 inhabitants or fewer. The subsidy covers 20% of the cost and is distributed via non-competitive concurrence, with applications opening on 27 August.

These measures illustrate Galicia’s recent push to address demographic and labour‑market challenges through targeted financial support, using regional and EU resources to improve family care, graduate employability, and rural residency.
