Galicia President Rueda Labels AP-9 Transfer a €4 bn Scam

Alfonso Rueda, president of the Xunta de Galicia, accused the regional opposition parties BNG and PSdeG of endorsing a "scam" involving a €4 billion cost linked to the transfer of the AP‑9 toll highway to the autonomous community. Rueda rejected the text approved by the Congress, saying it would force Galicia to pay the concessionaire Audasa, and asserted, "Transferencia sí, estafa no."

BNG leader Ana Pontón and PSdeG secretary José Ramón Gómez Besteiro countered, calling Rueda’s stance a betrayal and accusing him of inventing a fictitious invoice. Pontón described the deal as "infame" and blamed previous governments for expanding the concession, while Besteiro labeled the €4 billion figure a "factura ficticia". The heated debate in the Galician Parliament highlighted deep political divisions and cast doubt on the future of the AP‑9 transfer negotiations.
