Galicia private health sector handles over 30% of emergencies, 40% of surgeries

A Fundación IDIS report shows that private health centres in Galicia attended almost one in four emergency consultations, accounting for about 4.6 % of the region’s public health spending. In the same report, private providers handled more than 32 % of all emergency visits and performed four out of every ten surgeries.

The study notes the private sector now covers 12.8 million insured individuals, a 1.7 % rise over the previous year, and is positioned as a driver of innovation and sustainability within the Galician health system.
