Galicia reaches 43,000 beneficiaries for home care program

The Xunta de Galicia has announced that the ‘Bono Coidado no Fogar’ program has reached 43,000 beneficiaries. This initiative, which has been in place for two years, provides 5,000 euros annually to individuals receiving care for dependency issues within their own homes from family members or others in their environment.

For the current year, the regional government has allocated 179 million euros to this benefit, representing a 52% increase compared to 2025. The program is available to all individuals regardless of their recognized degree of dependency or income level. Currently, Galicia serves over 97,000 people through various dependency services or benefits.

The regional executive has called for greater commitment from the central government, noting that while there have been announcements regarding the central government providing its required 50% of funding under the Dependency Law, the actual contribution has historically decreased, currently standing at 32%.
