Galicia tourism sector reports growth in profitability and revenue
The tourism sector in Galicia demonstrated growth during the first half of 2026, focusing on a model of quality and sustainability. According to data from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), hotel revenues rose by 5.3% to reach 174 million euros, while sector profitability increased by 6.8%.
During the January-June period, Galician tourist establishments hosted over 2.95 million travelers. Overnight stays reached more than 5.1 million, a 3.1% increase compared to the first half of 2025. The average length of stay also grew by 3.6%, reaching 1.7 nights per visitor.
International tourism now accounts for 37.3% of total visitors, representing a 1.9% increase. The United States remains the leading international market with 135,777 visitors (up 14.9%), followed by Portugal with 129,845 travelers (up 2.7%). The Italian market also showed significant growth, increasing by 18.9% to 55,003 visitors. Conversely, some markets saw declines, including Germany, the United Kingdom, and France.
