Galicia university students opting for partial study loads hit decade low
The number of university students in Galicia opting for partial dedication to balance studies with work or family responsibilities has reached a decade low. According to data from the Ministry of Science for the 2024-2025 academic year, only 13.6 percent of degree students are enrolled in this modality, totaling 6,924 individuals.
This figure represents a significant decline from the 2017-2018 period, when the number of part-time students peaked. The demographic breakdown shows an almost equal split between genders, with 3,428 female students and 3,496 male students choosing this path.
Galicia currently shows one of the highest rates of full-time enrollment in Spain, with 86.3 percent of students committing to complete courses. This trend contrasts with institutions like UNED, which was specifically designed to facilitate work-life balance through flexible study models.
