Galician port authorities advance infrastructure and green energy projects

Port authorities in Galicia are implementing infrastructure upgrades and sustainability initiatives. In A Guarda, Portos de Galicia has announced plans to renovate the entrance gate to the vessel docking area and replace the access control system for sailors following requests from the local fishermen's guild. Additionally, officials are coordinating improvements for user departments and planning the second phase of the docking ramp renovation. The refurbishment of the net warehouse, costing 12,000 euros, has also been completed to support local net-mending activities.

Meanwhile, the Port Authority of Vigo is expanding its renewable energy capacity. The institution has installed 322 new solar panels on the roof of the El Tinglado de Comercio building. This installation is expected to produce 289,468 kWh annually for self-consumption, potentially preventing the emission of approximately 60.26 tons of CO2 per year. This project joins several other solar-powered facilities within the port, including the fish market, the Bouzas Terminal vehicle silo, and the Guixar scanner.
