Galvion announces new soldier power and headborne technology
Galvion has announced two major technological developments for soldier systems, which will be showcased at the AUSA 2026 conference in Washington, D.C.
In collaboration with South 8 Technologies, Galvion introduced the Nerv Centr SoloPack Arctic. This rechargeable battery is designed for extreme-cold environments, utilizing South 8’s LiGas liquefied gas electrolyte technology. The battery is engineered to operate in temperatures ranging from -60°C to +60°C, addressing the power constraints conventional lithium-ion batteries face in Arctic conditions. The unit weighs 1.2 lbs and maintains a 98Wh energy density.
Additionally, Galvion is presenting the Cortex EVO HALO integration concept for the U.S. Army’s Next-Generation Integrated Head Protection System (NG-IHPS). This externally mounted architecture allows for the integration of advanced power, data, and compute capabilities onto existing helmet platforms without requiring the replacement of the protective system itself. The concept aims to support evolving soldier-worn technologies, such as enhanced night vision and digital communications, by providing a common power and data backbone.
