Galvion soldier system and headborne technology developments
Overview
Galvion has introduced technological developments aimed at upgrading soldier headborne systems and power capabilities.
Initially, the company announced the Cortex EVO HALO integration concept, intended to upgrade the UK Ministry of Defence’s existing VIRTUS helmet fleet. This externally mounted architecture provides a common power and data backbone to support visual augmentation, sensing, and digital communications without replacing the protective platforms.
Expanding on these capabilities, Galvion later presented the Cortex EVO HALO concept for the U.S. Army’s Next-Generation Integrated Head Protection System (NG-IHPS). Additionally, in collaboration with South 8 Technologies, the company introduced the Nerv Centr SoloPack Arctic, a rechargeable battery utilizing LiGas liquefied gas electrolyte technology. This battery is designed to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -60°C to +60°C, addressing power constraints in Arctic environments.
