Gambero Rosso announces 50 “Vini Rari 2027” selections
Gambero Rosso has announced its “Vini Rari 2027” selection, a group of 50 labels chosen ahead of the upcoming “Vini d’Italia” guide release on October 25. The selection includes eight sparkling wines, 14 whites, one macerated white, 22 reds, and five sweet or meditation wines.
The criteria for rarity extend beyond simple production volume. While some wines are produced in only a few hundred bottles, others exceed 3,000. The distinction is based on unique, non-replicable elements such as ancient vineyards that survived phylloxera, recovered grape varieties, traditional processing methods, and a strong connection to specific territories.
Notable inclusions include Fiano di Avellino from the Lapio area, recognized for its ability to express its origin and its potential for aging. Other highlighted wines include the Dolcetto d’Alba Boschi di Berri Pre-Fillossera from Poderi Marcarini, which utilizes vines planted in the late 19th century, and the Barbaresco Asili V. V. from Roagna.
