Gambia's Information Minister Ismaila Ceesay Calls for Legal Action on Critics, Highlights Progress

Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Gambian Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, told West Coast Radio that many Gambians are “fault finders” who focus on what is not working. He said public debate often emphasizes shortcomings while overlooking government investments and improvements in health and other sectors, stressing that “the country is moving” despite challenges.

He added that anyone who believes social commentator Mama Jabbie has broken the law should file a complaint with the police, noting that “the law is here for every Gambian and not only for the people in government.” He also said the state can only act where a crime has been committed, referring to a controversy over a song by artist Nyancho and emphasizing that no action has been taken against the commentator or the musician.
