Indonesia Sets 8% Cap on Ojek Online Commission Effective July 1 2026

Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation, led by Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, announced that the commission taken by ride‑hailing platforms for two‑wheel motorcycle taxis (ojol) will be limited to a maximum of 8 percent starting 1 July 2026. The policy follows President Prabowo Subianto’s Presidential Regulation No. 27/2026 and will be applied without a trial period.

The new cap replaces the previous ceiling of 20 percent set under Ministerial Decree No. KP 1001/2022. It applies only to motorcycle‑based rides; four‑wheel rides remain under separate regional regulations. Application developers have agreed to the change and are preparing technical and administrative steps for implementation.

Minister Purwagandhi said, “Oh enggak (tidak uji coba), langsung diberlakukan 1 Juli,” emphasizing the government’s intent to improve the earnings and welfare of online‑transport drivers.
