Gambling revenue in France reaches 14.1 billion euros in 2025

According to a report from the French Observatory for Drugs and Addictive Trends (OFDT), gambling activity in France saw significant growth in 2025. The gross gaming revenue—the difference between total bets placed and winnings paid out—reached 14.1 billion euros, representing a 3% increase from the previous year.

Growth was primarily driven by online gaming, with 4.2 million people placing at least one online bet in 2025, a 7.6% rise compared to 2024. Specific sectors saw notable increases, including an 8.6% rise in sports betting and a 15.1% increase in poker. The average annual expenditure per adult rose to 259 euros, up from 253 euros in 2024.

The report also noted a rise in voluntary gambling bans, with 122 individuals per 100,000 adults being subject to such measures. Regional data showed the highest density of these bans in Alpes-Maritimes, while Loir-et-Cher recorded the lowest.
