NVIDIA announces DLSS 4.5 and RTX Mega Geometry technology

NVIDIA has announced significant advancements in real-time graphics technology, including the rollout of DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and the introduction of RTX Mega Geometry.

DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction utilizes a second-generation transformer model to replace traditional denoising techniques in ray-traced and path-traced games. This update is compatible with all GeForce RTX GPUs, from the 20 Series through the 50 Series. The new model features 35% more computational capacity and handles 20% more parameters to improve image stability and reduce visual artifacts like ghosting and flickering.

Additionally, NVIDIA is debuting RTX Mega Geometry, which will be first implemented in the upcoming title Gears of War: E-Day. This technology addresses a technical limitation in Unreal Engine 5's Nanite system by allowing ray tracing to process high-detail geometry directly rather than relying on simplified low-detail meshes. This results in more accurate shadows and reflections for complex objects. NVIDIA expects these methodologies to be integrated into Microsoft’s forthcoming DirectX Raytracing 2.0 specification.
