Dominican Republic honors athletes from Santo Domingo 2026 Games

Various Dominican institutions and officials are holding ceremonies to honor athletes following their performance at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

The Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic, led by Emma Polanco Melo, held a recognition ceremony for medalists, praising their discipline and perseverance. Similarly, the Ministry of Defense honored military and police athletes with special flag-raising ceremonies and merit medals.

At the local level, Senator Pedro Tineo of Monte Plata delivered over RD$500,000 in cash to various medalists and coaches, while also addressing athlete concerns regarding housing and training facilities. In San Pedro de Macorís, Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz announced a RD$274 million investment to reconstruct the local Sports Complex. Additionally, the Mayor of Santo Domingo Oeste, Francisco Peña, officially received local medalists to recognize their contribution to the community's pride.
