Gaming industry sees increased reliance on upscaling technologies
The gaming community and developers are increasingly relying on upscaling technologies to manage performance demands. Following the release of NVIDIA DLSS 5, modders have discovered ways to optimize the technology. While the official implementation in titles like NBA 2K27 has been noted for being performance-heavy, modders found that the network appears to depend on output resolution rather than internal rendering resolution. This allows for more flexible integration, enabling modes such as Quality, Balanced, and Performance to mitigate frame rate drops.
In a separate development, the early access title Wardogs has released its system requirements, emphasizing the role of upscaling in achieving performance targets. To reach a minimum goal of 60 fps at 1080p on low presets, the game requires hardware such as a GTX 1660 or RX 590, though this performance relies on upscaling rather than native resolution. For higher-end experiences, such as 4K at 60 fps, the game suggests using upscaling alongside more robust hardware like an RTX 3070.
