Valencia invests over 5 million euros in pedestrian accessibility

The Valencia City Council has invested over 5 million euros between 2023 and 2026 to improve pedestrian accessibility and eliminate architectural barriers across the city. These works have resulted in the renovation of more than 24,000 square meters of sidewalks and the implementation of 247 pedestrian curb ramps.

Acting Mayor and Councilor for Urbanism and Housing, Juan Giner, stated that removing architectural barriers is a priority to improve the quality of life for residents, particularly the elderly and those with reduced mobility. A significant portion of the investment occurred in the last 18 months, with approximately 14,000 square meters of sidewalks renovated between 2025 and 2026.

Additionally, major remodeling works are underway on Calle Colón, a primary commercial artery. This project, part of the Plan Valentia, involves over 2 million euros to renovate 21,900 square meters of surface area, including granite sidewalks and sound-absorbing asphalt. The project is currently 55% complete and is expected to be finished by December 2026.
