Valencia urban infrastructure and accessibility improvements
Overview
The Valencia City Council has undertaken several urban infrastructure projects aimed at improving city services and accessibility. Between 2023 and 2026, the council invested over 5 million euros to enhance pedestrian accessibility by renovating more than 24,000 square meters of sidewalks and installing 247 curb ramps. This initiative, which includes major remodeling on the commercial artery Calle Colón, seeks to eliminate architectural barriers for elderly residents and those with reduced mobility.
In addition to pedestrian improvements, the city has launched a renovation of the sanitation network in the Cabanyal-Canyamelar neighborhood. This project involves replacing over 120 meters of piping with high-density polyethylene to modernize hydraulic infrastructure. The works are designed to optimize water collection and increase drainage capacity to better manage intense rainfall and prevent subsurface incidents.
