Gangnam-gu implements new measures to accelerate reconstruction projects

Gangnam-gu is implementing new administrative measures to accelerate urban redevelopment and support local businesses. The district office has established a ‘reconstruction process management dashboard’ to monitor 103 ongoing redevelopment, reconstruction, and remodeling projects. This system allows officials to track progress by stage, identify causes of delays, and facilitate inter-departmental coordination to expedite projects.

To improve transparency for residents, the district has launched a dedicated reconstruction information menu on its website, including a specialized guide for complex reconstruction-related taxes. A customized text alert service will also be provided to notify residents of important schedules such as public notices and resident briefings.

Additionally, Gangnam-gu is addressing the issue of vacant commercial spaces in newly completed apartment complexes. By improving the procedures for changing the usage of commercial units, the district will allow such changes to occur after completion but before the final ‘transfer notice’ and official building ledger are established. This measure aims to prevent delays in opening essential services like hospitals and academies, which previously had to wait for lengthy administrative processes. The first complex to benefit from this change is DH Firstier IPARK in Gaepo-dong.
