Ganjam cyber police recover lost phones and bust betting ring

Cyber police in the Ganjam district of Odisha have conducted significant operations targeting mobile theft and illegal online betting.

In Brahmapur, the Cyber Police Station successfully traced 121 mobile phones. During a public program at the Badabazar Police Station campus, 102 devices were returned to their owners. The remaining 19 recovered phones are awaiting legal formalities and identification procedures before they can be released.

In a separate operation, Ganjam cyber police dismantled an online betting-app network operating from rented houses in the Rambha police station limits. Three individuals—Satrughna Kumar Pandey from Jharkhand, and Dharmadas Manikpuri and Jagadish Sethi from Chhattisgarh—were arrested. Authorities seized 78 debit cards, 86 SIM cards, 16 bank passbooks, three laptops, 14 phones, and various digital devices. Investigators are currently examining the seized materials, which include identity documents and transaction records, to determine if bank accounts were being used to route money from the betting operations.
