Garage fire in Neubauernstraße, Germany injures five residents

Early on Monday morning a fire broke out in a garage on Neubauernstraße. Police and fire crews were alerted just before 02:00 and extinguished the blaze by 07:00. The likely cause was a defective electrical device that sparked flames which spread to an adjoining wall.

Five occupants of the building were evacuated and taken to hospital with suspected smoke‑gas inhalation. All recovered and were released later that day. The city arranged temporary accommodation for the residents while the building was secured and investigators collected evidence. The investigation into the cause continues.
