Garmin releases free update for Fenix 8 fixing pace dropouts and random reboots
Garmin is rolling out a free software update (beta version 23.22) for its premium outdoor watch line, including the Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro, Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED, Enduro 3 and Quatix 8. The update focuses on reliability, addressing a pace‑and‑speed data dropout that affects interval training, sporadic device reboots, and several music‑control issues such as an unresponsive volume slider and problems with audio spectator messages. Additional fixes improve voice‑output reliability, enforce silent‑mode settings, correct Morning/Evening Report time‑outs, and ensure watch‑face selections made in Boat Mode appear correctly after the mode is disabled. The beta has reached roughly 20 % of eligible Public Beta participants, and users can manually check for the update via the watch’s System menu.
A community‑driven weekly roundup of endurance‑sport device problems has highlighted many of these same issues across Garmin models, underscoring the need for the comprehensive fix now being distributed.
