Garmin unveils Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro series

Overview

Garmin has officially launched its next generation of flagship outdoor smartwatches, the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro series. The lineup is available in three sizes—43 mm, 47 mm, and 51 mm—and includes thirteen different variations featuring both AMOLED and solar display options.

The Fenix 9 Pro features a full titanium case, sapphire glass protection, and an upgraded AMOLED display with a brightness of up to 3000 cd/m². Technical upgrades include a 50% increase in RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which facilitates faster map rendering via a new engine that increases scrolling speeds by 30%. Connectivity has been expanded, with LTE and satellite capabilities via inReach technology now available across solar models and the 43mm AMOLED version, allowing for voice calls, text messages, and SOS transmissions.

New software and sport-specific features have been integrated to support high-intensity activities. The ‘Garmin Epic’ feature allows users to group multi-day activities into a single, shareable summary featuring color-coded maps and combined health statistics; notably, the Fenix 9 Pro is currently the only model capable of starting an ‘Epic’ directly from the watch. Specialized profiles have also been added, including ArcheryX, rowing, rucking, and SkiErg.

To assist with endurance management, the series introduces the Stamina Curve and Stamina Zones. The Stamina Curve utilizes accumulated training history to estimate how long a user can sustain specific effort levels, while Stamina Zones translate this data into real-time personalized effort ranges. The largest model offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and includes water resistance rated for depths up to 40 meters. The Pro models also feature an integrated LED flashlight with a green light mode for night vision.
