Garmin unveils Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro smartwatches

Garmin has officially unveiled its next generation of flagship multisport GPS smartwatches, the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro. Available in three sizes (43 mm, 47 mm, and 51 mm), the new series introduces significant hardware and software upgrades designed for athletes and outdoor adventurers.

The Fenix 9 Pro features a premium titanium case and enhanced connectivity, including integrated LTE and satellite (inReach) capabilities, allowing users to send SOS messages and make calls without a smartphone. Both models utilize highly bright AMOLED displays, with the Pro version reaching up to 3,000 nits of brightness. The 51 mm model offers a larger 1.5-inch screen.

Key software innovations include ‘Garmin Epic,’ which compiles multiple activities into a single shareable story via Garmin Connect, and advanced stamina metrics such as ‘Stamina Zones’ and ‘Stamina Curves’ to help users manage physical exertion. Navigation has also been improved with 50% more RAM and a new mapping engine that increases scrolling speeds by 30%. Additionally, the series includes specialized profiles like ArcheryX and improved rowing VO2 max tracking.

Storage capacity has doubled to 64 GB, and the watches are built for durability, featuring sapphire glass and water resistance up to 40 meters. Pricing for the base models starts around $999.
