Garut man arrested for fatal beating of elderly man

A 28-year-old man, identified by the initials AS, was arrested for the fatal beating of 74-year-old Eman Sutaryat in Cisompet, Garut, West Java. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning while the victim was collecting scrap metal.

According to Garut Police Chief AKBP Niko Nurallah Adi Putra, the motive was the suspect's resentment after the victim reprimanded him for consuming alcohol in public. At the time, AS was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and 25 pills of certain illegal drugs. The suspect allegedly struck the victim twice in the head with a large river stone, weighing approximately 25 kilograms, causing fatal skull fractures.

Following the incident, police expanded the investigation into local drug distribution, leading to the arrest of a woman identified as JH. Authorities seized 3,900 illegal pills and 8 grams of methamphetamine from her possession. Police confirmed that the suspect is in good health and does not suffer from mental health disorders.
