Gary Neville criticizes Liverpool forwards Wirtz and Isak

Former Manchester United player Gary Neville has criticized Liverpool forwards Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, calling for them to show more tenacity and aggression to justify their high transfer costs.

Following a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United, Neville noted that the duo, who represent a combined £240 million investment, have yet to deliver sufficient progress. Wirtz joined Liverpool for £116 million, while Isak arrived for a British record £125 million. Both players had underwhelming debut campaigns last season as Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League.

Speaking on his podcast, Neville stated that the players are ‘too nice’ and must develop a ‘nastier edge’ to succeed. He specifically highlighted a perceived lack of physical commitment and tenacity in Wirtz’s game.
