Gas leak triggers evacuations in central Vibo Valentia

A significant gas leak in the center of Vibo Valentia, Italy, prompted emergency responses and the precautionary evacuation of several homes and offices. The alarm was raised following a strong odor of gas near Piazza San Leoluca and Via Vittorio Veneto, close to the Confindustria headquarters and the Church of the Rosario.

Emergency services, including the Vigili del Fuoco (firefighters), State Police, and Italgas technicians, arrived on the scene to secure the area and identify the source of the leak. Authorities cordoned off streets and evacuated buildings located between the Church of the Rosario and the intersection with Via Milite Ignoto to ensure public safety.

This incident follows a similar gas leak that occurred a few days ago near the “Berto” scientific high school, which required a student evacuation. While the current situation is under control, officials are investigating the cause of the leak and whether there is any connection to the previous occurrence.
