Gasometer Stockholm to open March 2026 with Mühlrad and Wessely

The Gasometer, a new 2,300-capacity entertainment venue in Stockholm, is scheduled to open on March 17 next year. The site is a conversion of an 1899 gasholder and will be operated by the hospitality and entertainment company Miramis.

Composer Jacob Mühlrad and visual artist Alexander Wessely have been announced as the inaugural performers, with events planned between March 17 and March 20. Mühlrad, who composed the music for the 2025 Nobel Prize Banquet, will collaborate with Wessely, a creative director known for visual work with artists such as The Weeknd and Rihanna.

The venue will host live concerts and serve as a home for the Swedish Royal Opera for the next five years. Programming will be led by Julien Planté, formerly of London’s KOKO. The facility aims to integrate architecture with advanced audio and visual technology.
