Gasometer Stockholm venue development

Overview

The Gasometer, a new entertainment venue in Stockholm converted from an 1899 gasholder, was initially scheduled to open in March 2026. Operated by Miramis, the site was planned to host inaugural performances by composer Jacob Mühlrad and visual artist Alexander Wessely.

Following these initial plans, the Royal Swedish Opera announced it will inaugurate its new main stage at the Gasometer on April 9, 2027. The opening will feature the world premiere of Alexander Ekman’s ballet, Lustra. This new venue will serve as a temporary home for the Royal Opera during a 3.25 billion SEK renovation of its historic house at Gustav Adolfs torg.
